Based On The Book
Books and films both tell stories, but what we want from a book can be different from what we want from a movie. Is this true for you? If so, what’s the difference between a book and a movie?
For me, books are very different entertainment type than movies. Movies (to me) are usually for short term distraction, a little visual party for my brain. I have rarely found a movie made from a book (that I had read) which I enjoyed as much as the book. Books offer so much more exercise for my brain, as I create my own picture in my head of what the author is trying to convey. There is just so much more depth that can be achieve in a book. Now, that is not to say I am giving up my movie addiction anytime soon.
So how do you feel about books and movies?
Some places are like people: some shine and some don’t.

I love both…..I am an avid reader, but I also love a good movie…However I am with you about the movie book thing….very few movies do justice to the books…..
I never watch a movie of a book I’ve read or plan on reading. They are never the same, and most times I just get ticked off! Like you, I prefer to see the book in my own head. Most days, I’d take a good book over a great movie!
I love both, it depends on my mood.
I love both also, but hate hate hate when they make a movie out of a book and leave out the best parts. I try to either read or watch, not both because I hate to be disappointed or have one ruin the other.
I find it hard to find books that catch my attention. My theory is always, if I don’t find it interesting in the first chapter, I give up on it. But the ones that I do, well those are the ones that that I don’t put down for three days straight!
I prefer a book, because than I can imagine the characters and world as I hope the writer wanted them to be and not the way some producer makes them be.
Whenever I know a movie is based on a book, I rty to read the book also so I know the full story and not the edited version.
The Shining. Great as a book AND a film!
I like it best when a movie fits the book, meeting my expectations – though it’s rare.
