Crying UNCLE

I have a new theme. I think. First I need you, ALL of you, to tell me what you think. I adored my old theme, it was very different. But it seemed lots of people found it hard to navigate. Tell me what you think in the comments okay?

Now for the ‘real’ help. Anyone know how to change the widths on this layout. It seems to me that the widget side is a little too wide and the posting side is a little too narrow. Does it appear that way to you? Can someone help me adjust them?

Don’t just leave me hanging here….tell me what you really think.

Put not off your cloths in the presence of others

  1. Yes the widget side seems to wide in comparison to your posting side. Can’t help with any changes cuz I’m a lurp when it comes to this kind of stuff. I like the new look though …

  2. DJ

Love the trees! Not sure how to fix the width.
I don’t like the width of my sidebar either, let me know if you figure it out!

  3. I love the changes! I agree that this will be easier to navigate. I’m not positive how to get into the html to change column width or how much previewing you can do before committing, but if you search the html code for column width, you can make the post column larger and the others smaller, but you will still probably want the sum of all columns to add up to the same in the end.

  4. Web developers should never criticize a fellow developer’s work, so I will not. All I will say is that if you want, I will develop a WordPress theme for you to meet your specific needs. I do not charge for this kind of work, all I ask is that you give me at least ten days to complete the job as I also have a day job (the kids insist on eating).

Should you want to take me up on this offer, please mail me with your specific requirements. Please include the graphics you would like in the header and in the sidebar(s) and I will try and deliver a theme that is uniquely yours.

I do make WordPress themes available from my site (or at least I have just started again) but at present I only have two available. When I build unique themes for my friends they stay unique and I do not make those available to others.

Please do not feel obliged in any way to make use of my services.

  5. I have no clue how to help change anything, but for me it looks just fine to be honest.
I must say this is brighter and a tad more welcoming than the last one too love.

  6. I love this layout. The first time I visited was yesterday…before you changed. It was a bit hard to navigate. This one’s good! πŸ™‚

  7. Haha – when I first openned the page I felt bad that I had been gone so long you went and got a completely different look. Now I don’t feel so bad πŸ˜‰

I do like being able to see more than 1 post per page! πŸ™‚ But I can’t help you with widths, other than to say that if you want to be wider drink more chocolate peanut butter milkshakes!!! :-0…

  8. I love this! Damn, Steve is right. My site does need a redesign. I liked the old one, too, but this looks all Professional.

  9. pam

You might need to put this image:
somewhere else. It’s huge, and is running off the page, creating the mess.

  10. Love the new theme Vixen!

I think if you can locate the width sizes within the html, you should be able to swap the sizes so the post size is the bigger and the sidebar smaller. I also agree with Pam. The “Secret Agent Award” image is too big and could cause issues if you do swap the column widths.

  11. Love the new theme. Keep it. No idea how to change anything. *lovies* p.s. I’m writing for a bit, so I won’t be regularly visiting for a while. Thx for your understanding *lovies*

  12. Mar

As far as help with the other stuff? Sorry Charlie, you know me.

  13. I like it. Bright and cheerful. I have no idea how to change anything, last time I tried messing with my code, I had to reload a previous copy of my layout. I wish I could find something as clean, but with my feel.

Thanks for stopping by. Have a great day.

  14. I like it! I liked your old one too, but I admit it was difficult for me to figure out the first time I saw it. It wasn’t hard after the initial newness of it though. πŸ˜€ I’m terrible with coding though so sorry I’m not gonna be much help on the width. Good luck!

  15. This theme is easier to navigate for me. πŸ™‚ About the width, I have no clue but I’m sure Nap Warden would know. πŸ™‚

  16. I love your new theme. It’s fresh and simpler to read than your old theme was. I often felt β€˜lost’ trying to navigate your blog … and unless I arrived on a LINK to a specific post, I was lost. I wish I could help with layout and formatting questions, but (alas) I’m using Blogger templates I have no clue how to β€˜modify’ … though I do plan to tackle that when time permits. Good luck to you. I’m sure there are others who will be of help.
    Hugs and blessings,

  17. uw a new design. i knew something had changed lol.

i know what you mean about the width. not sure how to solve it sorry…

with the width problem dont know if it would help if somehow the posts bit could be in middle and the columns at either side instead possibly? may not look so wide then? but i guess thats the style of the template anyway?

hmmmm .. hope you sort something out soon though … good luck πŸ™‚

but i like it though, the tree effect is cool πŸ˜‰

  18. I have the same sidebar issue. Jester is going to fix it for me. I like this theme better than the last one because I could never find the RSS on the last one, so I couldn’t get you in my feed reader. However, I’m just curious why you didn’t look for something more Vixen-y… foxy… you know what I mean. If you’re interested, I could try to put something together for you that’s a little more personalized. I tweaked a lot of stuff on my own blog without Jester. Are you on WordPress? I was looking for the WP emblem but didn’t see it.

  19. I like the new theme – it’s bright and yet serene … always a good thing. I do think the width is too wide on the side bar though – since I’m not sure what you used to create it … not sure how you change it, but here’s the html piece …

Looks like according to your page source, you have … if you make that

or that might set the size … I think. It’s been awhile since I played in that sandbox.
