Has The Moon Lost Her Memory

I’ve been tagged by Judi at Where The Road Takes Us with a meme that takes me back in time: Listing seven facts about me from high school. Since only a handful of my readers were even alive then, you can probably all understand if I have a hard time remembering back that far.

1. I was Vice President of the Science Club sophomore year and President my junior year.
2. When I was 15, I saw the movie Halloween in the theater with a girlfriend. Scared us nearly to death. That night I was babysitting next door to home, but I still had to call my mom to stay with me while I babysat.
3. My first job besides babysitting was cleaning fish tanks in a fish store.
4. My first car was a 1966 Chrysler Newport, for which I paid $100 combined with my mom’s old dinette set. It was bright yellow with a black swatch down the sides. Like a bee only eleventytrillion feet long. (click to see the full glory)
5. I went every Friday night after the football game to the roller rink for dance night and I usually wore my Danskin disco dress.
6. I tried out for Lettergirl (a step down from cheerleading), but didn’t make it. I did compete on the gymnastics team and the swim team. I also played right wing in a PAL soccer league.
7. While everyone else was fawning over Jill (Farrah Fawcet-ugh, the hair) and Kelly (Jaclyn Smith-who I think is prettier) I really, really wanted to be Sabrina (Kate Jackson) on Charlie’s Angels. She was pretty enough, but smarter, funnier and wittier than the others.

Now let us see how well you remember your high school days, I tag Gene, Grandy, Pam, and anyone else brave enough to share!

I Voted. And I moved. Not in that order.

  1. pam

Cool; this looks like fun! 🙂 And I drove a car almost exactly like that Newport! Mine was a 300, just a luxury couch on four wheels…! 😉

  2. Fun memories and you are way younger than me :0)

  3. Mar

What? No pictures in the dress???

  4. I have trouble remembering that far back too – fortunately, a friend from high school recently found me on facebook and posted high school pictures of me – apparently, I wore braces for the majority of the time – at least through the end of my Senior year – whoo hoo. I also had big hair, a 14K gold fingernail that you put on with nail glue, and pretend I was Jacyln Smith. That’s 4 things … not sure I can remember much more – I didn’t have my own car until college, in high school, I drove a 1981 Volkswagon Rabbit that was my dad’s. There, that’s 5. I’m done! 🙂

  5. Woah, that is the Starship Enterprise! That car is loooooong 🙂 I can’t remember much of my high school years. I think I try to block most of that out.

  6. Nice memories. My first car was just the opposite, a 1959 VW Bug, LOL. Dad said we all had to drive a bug for a year because they had no power, and we would learn how to work on cars. He was right, I had to work on it more than I drove it.

  7. Glad the move is done! The whole thing about the car and what you paid for it is hilarious!

  8. MMMMMMMMMM High school… I shudder at the thought every time i calculate how many years it’s been since graduation… a lifetime you say? sounds about right… lol

Lisa C.’s last blog post..Aloha Friday

  9. Psst…I finally got mine in there. 🙂

    Thanks for thinking of me.
