Take A Movie Moment

As I recall, the very first luxury we gave up as new parents (eons ago) was going out to a movie. Besides the cost of tickets, there were now babysitters to pay for! (and find) Besides, who could find the spare time or energy anymore? As our kids got older we saved our pennies to take in family movies, which ain’t cheap for a family of five, so they were rare times. And thus a (bad) habit was formed. Even now, with a nearly empty nest, Mr. Vixen and I rarely see movies in a theater. We wait until they come out on DVD and watch in the comfort of our own home, on our time with our very inexpensive homemade popcorn. We save trips to the big screen for big movies. We consider big movies to be films that are so graphically fantastic you simply must see them on the big screen with big sound. Movies like The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, The 300, Transformers, and so on. Since the economy has hit us so hard, we have had to give those up too. But all that’s about to change!

My personal favorites coming up are Precious and It’s Complicated, one being a serious dram the other a hilarious comedy.

But looking at your personal choices above you may enjoy one I saw last night (that I didn’t care for but everyone else in the theater did) Gentleman Broncos.

    Whatever you see, enjoy it!

  11. Having 2 kids, I don’t get to the movies very often either. I would recommend New Moon. I am going to see it for a work function and am looking forward to it. I would also recommend Where the Wild Things Are. That looks visually appealing.

  12. Sadly I can not even tell you what movies are coming out… The only thing I want to see that recently was released was Slumdog Millionaire but that was last year right?? Well, at least I could name a movie from this decade. ;P

My hubs went to see Law Abiding Citizen this weekend. He really enjoyed it. Basically, burglars kill a guy’s family (Gerard Butler, mmmm) and one of them cuts a deal with the lawyer (Jamie Foxx), so the guy takes the law into his own hands. I asked him what he liked about it and he said “That it was unpredictable” and also that it was surprisingly thought-provoking.

*shrug!* not my thing but there’s an idea for ya. 🙂

  14. Oh this is much too hard, honey! Let’s see…I already have tickets for New Moon with my bestie. Yes, it’s the midnight showing. Yes, we realize we will be THOSE 30 year old ladies amidst the throngs of teenage girls, and know what? We could care less! 😉 Then again, I also YEARN to see 2012! That movie looks like it’s gonna kick some serious booty! And I didn’t even realize Prince of Persia would be out soon!!!! MUST SEE ITTTT!!! He’s the hottest 3D animation in the history of time so he better be hot in live action too. And yes, I realize I just commented on the hotness of a bunch of 1s and 0s. Shhhhh! Trust me! Hot!
