when you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth

My birthday, yesterday, was a quite wonderful day. MacDougal and Funsize, instead of buying me a gift, took me out! As you can imagine, I haven’t been out for a nice dinner in years. We first went to a wonderful restaurant I had never even heard of before, the 94th Aero Squadron. It is located inside a replica of a World War I French farmhouse, overlooking Montgomery Field Airport, and is packed full of military memorabilia, antique farm implements, and aviation relics. The interior is cozy and romantic, with huge stone fireplaces, masses of hanging green plants, dark wood paneling, beamed ceilings, and old airplane wings hanging over the dining area. The music fits the era and there is even some propaganda radio playing in the bathrooms (ha ha). I was coerced into trying escargot and it was delightful, as was the french onion soup and shrimp scampi. The ambiance is great and the food good. We even got Mr. Vixen to taste a tiny corner of escargot.

Afterwards, we went the to theater and saw Sherlock Holmes. I may have mentioned before that I am a voracious reader and that I sometimes have a hard time watching movies made from books, as I always find they come up short compared to the written book. Not so with this movie. I thoroughly enjoyed the unexpected, but delightful way they portrayed Sherlock and Dr. Watson. If you haven’t seen this movie, I strongly recommend it. It was so enjoyable, I didn’t even notice how long it was until we came out to the car and realized the time!

Unfortunately, Lloyd was sick so I didn’t see Nannygoat, Ladybug and Butterball yesterday, but I am sure they’ll be by when they feel better.

Bear gave me a new pair of tennis shoes (much needed) and a dock/speaker system for my old Ipod. That thing is all kinds of awesome. It makes my time  working on the internet, sewing, even doing the dishes so much more fun!

All in all it was a wonderful day. Thanks to all for the birthday wishes and to my family for being so awesome!
