Denizens
Welcome to Vixen’s Den! I am a 48-year-old wife, mother, and grandmother. My den is hidden in the hills just north of San Diego, California. You know: the Land of Milk and Honey, where milk and honey are too expensive for us to enjoy.
I spend my days working and my free time with family, on my laptop, with my newest BFF: a horse named Calypso or crafting. I crochet, sew, embroider, cross stitch…I’ll try just about anything. I also take a lot of pictures when I can. A group of geese is a gaggle; a group of lions is a pride. A group of foxes is a rare and lovely sight, beautiful to behold. But if you need something shorter for everyday conversation, a group of foxes is called a skulk. I am the Vixen of our skulk (matriarch) and Mr. Vixen is my mate for life. There is no lack of kits (kids in fox talk) in our den and even when they grow up, I don’t kick them out, ha ha:
- My oldest, Nannygoat is married to Lloyd and has two little girls; Ladybug and WhatAboutMe? (formerly Butterball) and is expecting a third child in September 2011.
- My middle, MacDougal (aka MacD), lives in wedded bliss with the lovely Funsize . They are watched over by our own little angel, Collin Michael. who received his wings on August 9, 2008 and their second son, RolyPoly, who was born April 12, 2010.
- My youngest daughter, Bear, still dwells in the den with us. She is constantly attended to by her boyfriend, Fishboy.
- We also adopt strays and treat them like they’re one of the skulk. Sparkles is my “other” son; he and his girlfriend, SusyQ, are usually along for the fun and
are expecting their first child in August 2010had their baby unexpectedly early on June 22, 2010 we call him Presto. Midget, who for years lived in my son’s room under the laundry without me knowing, is currently in New York while attending Cornell. Masterchief (Nannygoat’s best friend since high school), recently added to the brood with her daughter Princess Picklehead. And, of course, the very musically talented Lightening Boy, has now returned to the area after a stint in the city of angels.
