Bunny’s Day Out
The baby shower was a wonderful time on Sunday. Getting past it (and the day before) is quite a relief. To distract myself from thinking about ‘things’ on Saturday, I held off making RolyPoly’s shower gift until that very day. And to make if even more difficult on myself, I attempted making a quilt when I have never quilted before! I am quite happy with how it came out! This material is called Bunny’s Day Out and is the cutest stuff I have ever seen. (click to see bigger, you have to, it’s just that cute!
Also there are some awesome St. Patrick’s Day aprons for sale over at ApronFrenzy AND back by popular demand the red and black lacy, goth apron is back too! Go check them all out!
Since You Asked…
There is still time to go and enter for your chance to win a $25 gift certificate from Target along with some goodies here. You have until Sunday to enter! Many asked for my Fried Cream Cheese Wonton recipe and so here it is:
I combined: 1 package of cream cheese, softened 1 egg, beaten 1/2 to 1 tsp. onion powder (you can use chopped green onion if you family doesn’t hate “crunch 1/2 tsp. garlic powder 1/2 TBSP sugar- I am having a baby shower this Sunday! Funsize is 33 weeks today and I would be lying if I said I wasn’t a little uneasy about this time. Collin was born at 33 wks 4 days and the day before his shower was to happen. What happened was nothing they could have seen coming and there is no reason to believe it could happen again, but I am a bit on pins and needles. I just want to get through the next few weeks and celebrate with joy the arrival of my grandson. I pray daily and it seems to help keep me on an even keel for now.
- My Medi-Cal was reinstated yesterday, so I am on the search for a surgeon. I want nothing more than to get better and find a job!!!!
- I am working on a gift for the shower. And it’s something I have never tried before. I might be a little intimidated. But I have some online friends who are experts, so I have help if I need it.
- I am having another giveaway next week.
- It’s MARCH! How did that happen. St. Patrick’s Day is my 2nd favorite holiday. If you celebrate, you should head on over to ApronFrenzy and grab a Paddy’s Day apron (they are on SALE, $6 off) and they are just so much fun.
- I want/need to write a hard-to-write post (I know, again?). It has to do with close knit communities, the tarnishing of a place where my kids/grandkids grew up, being part of a search team and the loss of a beautiful 17 year old young lady that should not have happened.
- Did I mention there is a baby shower? I need to get on decorations and food. Gotta run!

WW~Cute Little Tinkerbelle Apron
This is a special order, but I will have a similar one up at the new site ApronFrenzy soon and there are still a bunch on the ApronFrenzy Etsy site that I haven’t moved yet..
Where I’ve Been and Where I’m Going
I blinked my eyes and all of a sudden it had been 4 days since my last post! If 2k10 continues at this pace, I will have to get my year-end post ready sometime next month!
If you haven’t heard (probably because I am terrible at getting the word out) I have a NEW SITE. As a gift a wonderful and dear twitter friend I met in person, purchased ApronFrenzy.com on my behalf and is hosting it for me. This is cool on all kinds of levels: my own domain and saving the cost of fees I had to pay at Etsy. Also I can do advertising and make the blog look however I want it to. Okay, I mean I can make it look however I can figure out how to do things. It is quite the challenge for me to learn all this new coding and such. Overwhelming, in fact. If any of you with experience want to jump in and volunteer, please feel free! The etsy site is still up, as I have to move all the products from over there to over here (unless someone wants to go buy them all instead, hah). As soon as I get everything moved over and I have the time (and my back let’s me sit at the computer long enough) to remake some badges (once again, volunteers are welcome) with the new site on it, I will let all of you who host advertising for me know to update the links. I also have several new designs I am working on! One of them is already posted. You should go buy see it right here!
I had my MRI today. After my dad agreed to pay for it I called my surgeon to schedule the follow up visit as he indicated. The office manager answered the phone and was rude, unprofessional and way out of line. Seems she just noticed that I am MediCal patient and her doctor does not accept MediCal. She told me to find a PCP and get set up with them. For hell sakes, idiot, I don’t need a PCP. All they would do is refer me to a neurologist. At any rate, she claims my visits are no longer follow up visits from my surgery (although I still have the same issues) and they won’t see me accept on a cash basis. I say screw you. I made arrangements with the imaging center to pick up my own results tomorrow. At that time I will decide where to go from here. If there is still a herniation, I guess I could threaten the old surgeon with a malpractice suit to get seen, but I don’t really want to go there. I’ll decide tomorrow.
I continue to have a lack of anything happening that is worthy of posting and a creative blockage of locating anything of interest. I am still hoping this is just a temporary problem and that I haven’t actually misplaced my mind, never to be seen again.
I am thinking about starting a 365 Picture Challenge for myself (keep me busy, keep me motivated, keep me from getting more depressed). If I start, I will post the pics over at Vixen’s 365. Yes, the site that I started years ago to do a 365 challenge and never did it. So we shall see how that works out this time.
This Saturday, I am going to meet Hungry Girl. If you are in the San Diego area, you too are invited. If you are going to go, let me know so we can meet IRL!!!! I adore meeting new people. Plus we get free yogurt! Details if you are interested:

WW~Polar (bear) Express
I am babysitting again this week, so not much time for visiting and working on the internet. I did finish these four. Mommy and four children (sz 3-4, sz 5-6, sz 7-8). Get the entire set or just one or two over at ApronFrenzy.
I’d Rather Go Back To Boring
I’ve been worrying about what to blog about. There is so very little going on around here, except sewing, that I haven’t had any ideas. I spend my days worrying about how if I don’t blog, I won’t make the connections I need to stay positive and to meet more people to market my aprons to. I worry about where the money for the rent and utilities and food are going to come from. My last disability check paid through November 12th. Apparently, when my surgeon originally completed the forms he thought I would be better by then. When I saw him on the 11th of November, he decided I need a contrast MRI due to my continued inability to work. The MRI must have prior authorization from Medi-Cal (in spite of the fact that I must pay the first $1000 of any medical costs each month). I am still awaiting approval. So I worry, when they do approve it, will the MRI company take payments? I am sure the disability payments will catch up eventually, but in the meanwhile we have zero income. I have been selling quite a few aprons, one or two a week, but how does two people survive financially on that meager $60 a week? I am blessed that the person whom I rent from is not going to kick me out (at least not yet, as far as I know), but I use what we get to eat, buy toilet paper: basics. It doesn’t pay for the blood work I need to have done before my regular MD will refill my diabetes medications. They ran out this week.
I was reading this article by Mir Kamin, Facing The Holidays During Financial Crisis, and I realized that I wasn’t really worried about the holidays. Even with all the other worries on my mind, I haven’t been letting it get me down. I just keep pushing through each day. I get a little down when the mail comes each day and there is no response from SSDI regarding Mr. Vixen’s ruling. Mostly I get angry about it because they said it would be about 30 days and it’s already been 90. Still, I get over it all and move through; doing what I can to stay upbeat and survive. Mir’s article reminded me of the really lean years when our kid’s were younger. How much I worried Christmas would be ruined for them. I am not much about getting gifts, but I really do love to give them. Reading the article reminded me that I have one less thing to worry about during this difficult time because my children are all adults now. I don’t have to explain, they already know. It’s a blessing really, to know that I can enjoy the season without the worries.
So the point of this long winded (and possibly confusing) post was that I didn’t know what to post because there just isn’t much happening. And I wouldn’t care about not posting, except that I value the interaction I get online and that I am trying hard to learn about marketing myself (ApronFrenzy) and making connections and I worry that I might miss out on opportunity when it knocks. And then my phone rang.
It was my mother, asking if I had talked to Great. I had, about a week ago, but not about what my mother was calling regarding. You see, Great made a decision not to talk to people about this matter for now because of the season. The matter being: last week, my grandmother (aka Great) had a follow up mammo which discovered a large dense mass in her remaining breast. Long time readers will know that Great is a survivor of breast cancer (and lymphoma) and has been breast cancer free since her partial mastectomy and chemo treatment in 2003. Today she went for an MRI to further diagnose this new mass. We await results.
And, suddenly, I just want boring back. I want to have nothing to write here except to post new aprons I’ve made this week. I want to worry about finding some media guru to take me under their wing and help me market enough aprons to buy Christmas dinner. I want to go back to worrying about the same mundane crap that I worry about everyday, so don’t bother writing about. I want boring back, I’d even take mundane. But I won’t allow that wordthatbeginswithc back. I just won’t. And if the power of positive thinking has any power at all? Then I’ve got that aced.
WW~A Season Of Giving
This Wordless Wednesday is not so wordless. I wanted to share with you how wonderful my family is by showing you my tree, but without words, it wouldn’t make any sense. This year things are so tight, I wasn’t going to have a tree. Not even a cheapo from the local hardware store. Last weekend, my kids and my mother all got together and conspired to get me a tree. It is all over decorated now with my Great Grandmother’s glass ornaments and the ones we have collected throughout our 27 years of the holidays together. I think it’s beautiful.
I also wanted to remind you all that the Blog • Bid • Hope auction benefiting The Liz Logelin Foundation and Anissa Mayhew. Begins today at the following sites. Adventures in Babywearing, Buried with Children, Mayhem & Moxie, Scary Mommy, 7 Clown Circus, The Extraordinary Ordinary, & Mama’s Losin’ It. Each has a variety of different goodies to auction. Bids start at $10 and bidding ends Friday. If you want to bid on the item I donated from ApronFrenzy, it is listed here at Holiday Baker’s Delight. I gave what I have to give and it circled back to me in the form of this lovely tree. Check out the auctions and see what you can give, if you win an auction the rewards are great.
The love we give away is the only love we keep
This past year has been quite trying for me and my family. But nothing has been bad enough to change the essential me. The person who wants to help everyone. The person who wants to give back for all the wondrous blessings I have received from my online community. Thanks to Carissa, at GoodNCrazy, I heard about an event being sponsored this week. You all know, I have love in my heart, but not two pennies to rub together. Putting food on my table is becoming increasingly difficult; however, I have aprons. You know, the ones at ApronFrenzy, that everyone loves but not everyone buys? (feel free to go buy one now) So I volunteered. They picked this beauty to use in the auction. And I am excited to be part of such a wonderful benefit.
This week seven different blogs will be acting as hosts for the auction. They include: Buried with Children, Mayhem & Moxie, 7 Clown Circus, Scary Mommy, The Extraordinary Ordinary, Mama’s Losin’ It, and Adventures in Babywearing. All auction posts will be uploaded on Wednesday, December 9. The auction will remain open until Friday, December 11 at 5:00 PST. I believe my item will be auctioned on 7 Clown Circus, but be sure to check them all out and I am sure you will find gifts for everyone on your list!
If you would like to help promote the auction on Twitter this week they are planning to use the hashtag #blogbidhope. Want to follow all the hosts on twitter so you don’t miss a thing? Here’s their twit details:
