Weekends are a bit like rainbows; they look good from a distance but disappear when you get up close to them.

It is Friday and as the weekend approaches I wanted to post some things and catch you all up on life at the den. I am going to do some bullets here, so don’t I don’t get too overwhelmed!

  • Funsize went back to work starting last week and so we are babysitting RolyPoly three days a week. I now remember how much fun it is to have a baby all day. I also remember how that fun takes up all your free time.
  • I really did post this week. Three times in fact! (ha ha, you know I didn’t actually do three posts this week.) Well, I did. I just posted them all today! Tricky, right? So go now and read. On Tuesday, I told you all about how I’ve been laid up for a week or two. On Wednesday, I did a Wordless Wednesday (adorable baby pic!). And on Thursday I shared a recipe with you!
  • I have a review coming up for some wonderful, natural cleaning supplies. Now that there is a baby in the house, I find it more important to go green!  You can go ahead and check them out, because my review is a very, very positive one! http://www.ecostoreusa.com/
  • It’s almost 4th of July and BBQ season has already begun. In the next few days/week there will be a lot of new stuff going on at ApronFrenzy so get ready to shop and share with your friends and family. Or feel free to buy the ones already there!
  • I updated WordPress and now blog is funky and off and I can’t fix it. I mean I know how to fix it, back in the days before GoDaddyTheAwful got me all infected and then denied it. But back then I transferred to a new host and guess what???? I am so brain dead that I never asked how to get to my FTP to fix things! Brilliant, huh? Here’s hoping @princessjenn gets back to me soon, lol.
  • Enjoy your weekend, please comment on my posts from this week and continue to come and visit me! I’ve missed your input and visits. I’ll leave you with a lovely little up and coming cowgirl-in-training, my Butterball!

Getting Back To The Great Outdoors

Growing up, my parents took me camping all the time. Nearly every special memory I have from my youth was at a campground or the cabin (which was camping, but with a bed!). The first 14 years of my married life were spent in Utah where camping is plentiful and my kids were indoctrinated at a very early age. After moving here in 1998, we camped a lot less. Life got busier and then the kids became teens and next thing I knew, they were all grown up and trying to live their own lives. But I miss camping a lot and I felt sad that Ladybug and Butterball weren’t growing up with the camping experience. So, for Nannygoat’s birthday I bought her and her family a giant tent! Then on Mother’s Day I bought her a camp stove. To top it all off, I made reservations for two sites at a local campground for this past weekend. Super close to home in case we needed to go back and just for one night–sort of a practice run.

Of course our newest addition to the family, RolyPoly, wasn’t about to be left out. So MacDougal, Funsize and the new babe pitched their tent too! Sparkles brought Floozy on her first camping trip with us and Lightening Boy came too. My cousin brought her two girls for the day so she (an they) could finally meet RolyPoly and her kids could play with Ladybug and Butterball. Although Bear and Fishboy couldn’t stay with us due to work on Sunday, they still came up Saturday evening for s’mores and a a visit.

My fun loving grand-girls had the time of their lives! Dirt, dirt and more dirt is the newest and most fun toy they’ve ever played with! The adults had a very nice time also. RolyPoly has been having some issues sleeping at night since he was born. Apparently the camping gene runs very strong in him, as his night at the campground was the best night he’s slept since he was born! All in all, it was a great time. Check out the pictures here on my flickr, the one here of RolyPoly is one of my faves!

I have so much going on I need to get around to sharing with you. Working on a big, special, fancy, blog redesign! And maybe then I will be inspired and blog some more (ha ha ha).  Registered for college….I have no idea what I am doing, but apparently I need to decide soon. Ladybug had her IEP for KINDERGARDEN!?!?! (not sure how that is possible, since she was just born right?). More to share about the babes, life in general, and stuff (like this new laptop I am typing on right now).

Health-wise, I am doing great. The meds kicked right in and I am right back on track. Now I just need to get back on track here. Thanks to all of you for hanging around during my ‘distracted by new baby’ time. I won’t say it’s over yet, but I hope for the blog’s sake I can get some writing done!

Still Sort Of MIA (and there is a lot of action, trust me)

A quick moment of time, I give to you, my dear readers a quick synopsis and (more importantly) pictures of the beloved newcomer. First aside, I must warn you. Do not neglect your blog for more than one day at a time. Otherwise you may find yourself with 533 spam comments to wade through. Which also means you people don’t comment enough. Could you imagine if I got 533 real comments every two days?!?!

As you all know (or maybe not) RolyPoly made his debut a week ago today at 1:23PM. All 9 lbs. 5 ozs. He was just a roly-poly-ing along right up until the eviction.  I am sure he would have stayed in residence longer if given the choice. He came out gripping one of Funsize’s ribs in his hand, screaming about the rude interruption. Considering Funsize is half Chinese, tiny boned, stands barely 5 foot and normally 95 pounds dripping wet, I have no idea where she was storing RolyPoly or how she managed to take a breath. The proud father, MacD, was 9 lbs. 14 oz. at birth, but I am much larger than Funsize and an OB once held his fist up to my pubic bone and pronounced that I “was built to handle even a 10 lb. baby” which he retracted after MacDs birth.

My mom and Pop are here (arrived Friday) and my Dad arrives on Tuesday, so I don’t hold out much hope for a coherent post until at least Friday. Someone, in fact, called me today in a panic because I didn’t answer an email within a few hours…..that is how rare it is to find me at least not checking the internet! Here are some pics of the handsome dude to hold you over and because Sara at Red Pine Mountain demanded them and there is nothing I wouldn’t do for her (or Lesley or Marlee).

Side note again: All pictures are totally, completely and shamelessly stolen from NannyGoat as I am unable to take any pictures due to the fact I must keep my hands free at all the times to FIGHT FOR BABY HOLDING TIME with Bear, Nanny, Lloyd, Fishboy, Ladybug, Butterball, Mr. Vixen and my parents. Oh. And the actual parental units of the future football star also. (also I would like to apologize publicly to Sparkles for the other night when I slammed you across the room while jumping that chair when MacD said “who wants a turn?” and I needed to get to there first)

Aside to aside. RolyPoly already lifts and holds his head up. He has been accepted at several colleges to start next week, but we are just exploring our options for now. Here is the full Flickr set of his birth day, you get to see me cry alot. These are from after his homecoming (another story to come).

The Roly Poly Debut

At approximately 1:23, the not so little boy made his grand entry weighing in at 9 lbs. 5 oz and 19-1/2″

He is doing well. Had a little trouble acclimating from the water to air, but with a little suction and a nurse who harrassed him into screaming (which requires sucking in air first) he is fine. Glucose a little low, so the fed him a little formula. He is the spitting image of his father. (CLICK ON THE PICTURES FOR BIGGER!)

Yea, Yea Roly Poly

I hope you enjoy this as much as I do…….a little entertainment while I am off working to get real RolyPoly pics. I hope I will be back in the afternoon with the grand arrival details. And I will be twittering through the entire thing, but I won’t get your well-wishes or questions unless you DM me. So DM me! ha ha

Can I Just Skip Ahead To The End Of The Book?

The long roller coaster ride of RolyPoly is finally drawing near to it’s end. THIS Monday is the scheduled eviction c-section. I will say this is the longest nine months of my entire life. And probably also arduously long for MacD and Funsize too. I’ve been quiet about this entire process here because I have been petrifried every waking moment. It was easiest just to push it all to the back of mind until we got to the end. But now that we are here, well my mind isn’t allowing me to ignore it anymore. Last few nights I’ve had nightmares. Not about RolyPoly, but my mind has been reliving certain moments of Collin’s birth and death. Places I’d rather not revisit.

Needless to say, I have been so busy distracting myself with anything else, I have been remiss in my duties. Today I will try to get all the posts for next week lined up and ready to post. As I will be busy next week. Loving, cuddling and smooshing on my new Spring Sweet Treat!!!!

Since You Asked…

There is still time to go and enter for your chance to win a $25 gift certificate from Target along with some goodies here. You have until Sunday to enter! Many asked for my Fried Cream Cheese Wonton recipe and so here it is:

I combined:
1 package of cream cheese, softened
1 egg, beaten
1/2 to 1 tsp. onion powder (you can use chopped green onion if you family doesn’t hate “crunch
1/2 tsp. garlic powder
1/2 TBSP sugar
I then put a small amount of the cheese mixture in the center of the wonton wrapper. Wet the edges of the wrapper with a little bit of water. I folded them into triangles, and crimped up the two corners (like origami). Fry in oil until golden brown and drain on paper towels. Yum, yum, yummy.
There is a lot going on around here this week. I am crazy busy.
  • I am having a baby shower this Sunday! Funsize is 33 weeks today and I would be lying if I said I wasn’t a little uneasy about this time. Collin was born at 33 wks 4 days and the day before his shower was to happen. What happened was nothing they could have seen coming and there is no reason to believe it could happen again, but I am a bit on pins and needles. I just want to get through the next few weeks and celebrate with joy the arrival of my grandson. I pray daily and it seems to help keep me on an even keel for now.
  • My Medi-Cal was reinstated yesterday, so I am on the search for a surgeon. I want nothing more than to get better and find a job!!!!
  • I am working on a gift for the shower. And it’s something I have never tried before. I might be a little intimidated. But I have some online friends who are experts, so I have help if I need it.
  • I am having another giveaway next week.
  • It’s MARCH! How did that happen. St. Patrick’s Day is my 2nd favorite holiday. If you celebrate, you should head on over to ApronFrenzy and grab a Paddy’s Day apron (they are on SALE, $6 off) and they are just so much fun.
  • I want/need to write a hard-to-write post (I know, again?). It has to do with close knit communities, the tarnishing of a place where my kids/grandkids grew up, being part of a search team and the loss of a beautiful 17 year old young lady that should not have happened.
  • Did I mention there is a baby shower? I need to get on decorations and food. Gotta run!
