They was a-splishin’ and a-splashin’
Guess where I was yesterday? On a Friday? In May?
That doesn’t look anything like my work, does it? You caught me. I wasn’t at work, I was at the LEGOLAND waterpark for the new opening of their toddler SplashZoo area! Not by myself either. I thought it only fitting I bring the cutest kids I know: RolyPoly, Ladybug and WhatAboutMe!
All three of those kids adore being in the water. Our previous trips with the older two to a waterpark has been difficult because they believe A) they can swim alone in deep water B) they can do anything an adult can do. It was overwhelming to keep them happy and safe.
I adore, adore, adore the New Duplo Splash Safari with every bit of my grandmotherly being. Shallow, warm pools, kid-sized water slides, soft squishy pool bottom and a great big sprinkler area of giant zoo animals: everything in the place is made for kids to love and enjoy. And our three were no exception!
(see below for scientific/photographic proof of their enjoyment).
If you live in the area, are visiting Southern California or are planning a trip here this summer (any of you BlogHer 2011 attendees bringing your families?!?!) I suggest you take a day (or two) to visit the LEGOLAND Water Park (and of course LEGOLAND too!). The cabanas are terrific and give the family a central place to meet while your bigger kids head over to the regular sized slides and your toddlers and younger kids enjoy the fun (and easier for them to navigate) Splash Zoo!
Thanks to LEGOLAND CA for the opportunity to attend the grand opening and to the SDMomfia for helping to arrange the day for us bloggers. I was given four admission tickers to LEGOLAND, but all opinions, sunburns and fun are mine.
So much of life, it seems to me, is determined by pure randomness
As I keep saying, I have a bunch of stuff to post about. But then I never get to it. So I have decided to just throw a bunch of it into one post with bullets. So be it.
- I am going to be a Grandma again. Nannygoat is pregnant with her third. Due in September. A bit of a scare at the beginning, which I may or may not ever get around to posting about. In the meanwhile, it looks good now and we shall continue to perform the Snoopy Happy Dance.
- I am getting a horse. I wasn’t going to write about it until he got here, but then it kept getting delayed and people took my money to transport him and then didn’t do it. Bottom line, an extremely wonderful and giving woman whom I met online (!go figure!) gave me a horse. Like as in gifted to me. A new transporter (who has more of my money, lol) is picking him up this Monday. He should be here by Saturday (the 26th) and there is all kinds of THRILLING EXCITEMENT in my heart.
- I have health insurance. And tomorrow I am going to start using it to it’s fullest extent. There is some weird, not-normal stuff going on in my gut that is driving me insane and I can’t seem to function much after 2-3 in the afternoon. I mean serious exhaustion. Commence medical mystery solving at 9am tomorrow.
- RolyPoly is starting to walk. I am still stymied as to how how he grew this fast.
- It is almost March and I still want to post about Christmas and our post-Christmas trip to a cabin with snow. Maybe this year.
- I am dog-sitting Ladybug’s dog again while they make their annual trek to visit Utah. So far I have managed not to paralyze him this time; however, he randomly started pooping while he walks. He doesn’t seem to know he is doing it. Sigh.
- I am was learning to quilt. I want to finish it. And post about it. And share photos. I was going great and then…well see the medical mystery bullet above.
- Oh and there is the awesome post about our Valentine’s Day cruise to share. If only it would write itself.
- The more I bullets I create, the more I realize how much is missing from this journal of mine and I get really depressed that I didn’t share it immediately so as not to lose some of the thoughts and memories that I want to have memorialized here for myself.
- I better quit with the bullets now. Happy Friday.
Adam and Eve had many advantages but the principal one was, that they escaped teething
It has been 19 years since I spent my days with a teething baby. I am not, at this point, waxing nostalgic. So far today, it has taken three hours of rocking, swaying, chewing on a vibrating teether, a dose of Ibu, an explosive diaper episode, a calming bath, and more standing and swaying (me not him) to feel the freedom of a 20 minutes nap. Then there was a little more bottle and a 12 minute nap. Then a diaper change and the rest of the bottle and we are now 10 minutes into nap three. And the drool? How did I forget the amount of drool one small being is capable of emitting? Shirt four already today.
Someone remind me why we had to give up the whiskey on the gums thing?
Edited two hours later: Last nap lasted quite a long time, but unable to eat the bottle. A quick run to the store and one small bottle of miracle (aka Baby Orajel) later and happy RolyPoly is back! Guess I can use that whiskey on myself!
