Pleasure is spread through the earth In stray gifts to be claimed by whoever shall find
Winner is Shawna! Congratulations. I will be contacting you via email!
Did everyone check out my review below? I don’t always get so excited about things I review, but I certainly am about this
one. I just can’t stop gazing at my lovely new canvas.
I started thinking last night about what a fantastic gift this would make for my mom and grandma! So personal, unique and beautiful. I am so in love with my canvas and the unlimited ideas that you can do with this, that I decided I have to share some more. With all of my readers and fellow bloggers.
Next week, I am lucky enough to be attending Blogher ’11 and chances are pretty good I will get to meet some of my dear online friends for realz in person! I can’t imagine that there won’t be tons and tons of pictures taken by everyone in attendance. Maybe there will be one real special connection you make that is immortalized by a photograph….wouldn’t it be great to turn that into an 8×10 canvas?
We are in the throws of a heat wave all across the country, so it must be summer! And summertime always results in tons of great pictures of family events, vacations and lovely scenery. Pick your favorite shot and transform it into a piece of art on canvas.
One lucky reader of mine is going to receive one custom 8×10″ canvas! Designed by you!

Buns of (stainless) Steel
I got a new (to me) stove this weekend. Hip, hip, hooray! My oven stopped working three weeks ago and it is NOT easy to find something everyone will eat that you can cook on a stove top night after night after night.
The new (to me) on cleaned up really well, just take a gander at this polished beauty:
The old one looked like this:
Use your imagination here because I forgot to take a picture of it and now it’s in the garage against the wall & I can’t get to it. Just picture in your head a 25 year old white, battered and beaten gas range that had the extra benefit of being disgustingly filthy. Now let that picture go, because it will just make you ill to see it anymore. I know it did me.
A couple weeks ago the ol’ white pieceofcrap stove started acting up. When you turned on the oven, it did this crazy, useless thing: Instead of lighting and heating up, it filled the house with gas. Nifty, right? So Fishboy was going to buy a new one; however, there isn’t anyone out there in the entire world who has a tighter grip on his wallet than Fishboy. So he found this baitandswitch cheap range at a store, but no stock. They were unable to convince him to upgrade, so they gave him a two week lead time. After one week, it became two weeks from that date. After the second week, it became three weeks from this new date. I was going insane!!! So I went on CL and found one that met his criteria (black and stainless to match our micro and fridge and super cheap). I don’t know why, but it makes my tiny kitchen look so much bigger to me!
First thing I did was bake in it. I’ve had this giveaway I needed to do, but it required baking. So early Sunday morning I baked cinnamon rolls! “With today’s hectic schedules, leisurely mornings and breakfast with the family are difficult to come by. Luckily, Sundays present the perfect opportunity to reconnect and share a delicious breakfast together.”
Pillsbury and MyBlogSpark provided me with a gift pack that included a VIP coupon for Pillsbury Orange Sweet Rolls (although I went with Grands Cinnabon instead) as well as a photo album to help keep my family’s sweet Sunday morning memories close at hand. Yesterday was the Sunday morning of the “evil Daylight Savings-ness” and my family was still asleep while I baked and made some fancy-shmancy coffee in my press. I love the new range so much, I may just put it’s picture in the album instead of my family. It wasn’t long until everyone started streaming into the kitchen once the waft of baking cinnamon reached their rooms!
Your chance to win:
If you would like to win a Pillsbury Orange Sweet Rolls gift pack that includes a VIP coupon for Pillsbury
Orange Sweet Rolls (or the rolls of your choice) as well as a photo album (pictured on right) to help keep your family’s sweet Sunday morning memories close at hand all you need to do is leave me a comment about your favorite Sunday morning activity. Contest ends at midnight PST on Friday, March 19th (yep it’s a quicky). Be sure to leave a valid email!
On a side note, do you see how in the that picture of the album turned out? I put a picture of baby Chewbacca with a hot dog in her mouth in the album, but I didn’t notice until I went to crop the picture that Chewbacca herself (all growed up *sigh*) was peeking out the front door while I was clicking! It is sweetness, isn’t ?
My Fortune Cookie Said “Eat In Tonight”
Going out is a big deal around here. Mostly it doesn’t happen. Being on a very fixed budget can do that to a couple. So I was excited when I was invited to review the new Wanchai Ferry frozen entrées. A chance to dine at a restaurant without leaving the house? Perfection.
Now available in the freezer case at Target, Wanchai Ferry frozen entrées offer restaurant quality Chinese food without the trouble of having to leave home.
Wanchai Ferry Orange Chicken has all of the ingredients needed to prepare a great-tasting, complete Chinese meal for 2 in only 14 minutes! With lightly battered chicken breast pieces that stay crispy when prepared and wholesome Asian-style vegetables, like tender broccoli florets, snappy julienne carrots and delicate baby corn, Wanchai Ferry Orange Chicken will make you feel as though you’re enjoying a meal at your favorite Asian restaurant! It even comes with fluffy, tender Jasmine rice and a tangy orange glaze that adds the perfect touch of spicy heat.
Wanchai Ferry frozen entrées are also available in four other delicious varieties including Shrimp Lo Mein, Spicy Garlic Chicken and Sweet & Sour Chicken. Additionally, all of the entrées have no added MSG!
My review: Fancy Dinner a la chez Vixen’s Den
I decided to go with the Orange Chicken. Because, well, truth his Mr. Vixen doesn’t like much variety in his food and doesn’t do vegetables. The preparation time was just as quick as they said and super easy. The portion size of chicken seemed a little on the low size, but probably perfect if either Mr. Vixen or I ate more healthy portions! (we are working on it, trust me!). We also have two kids in the house we need to feed, so I purchased a bag of other-brand frozen orange chicken and prepared some regular white rice for them. Mr. Vixen and I ate the Wenchai Ferry food, but sampled the other chicken to compare. We both agreed that the chicken and sauce in the Wenchai Ferry entrée was much better in both quality and flavor. I (unlike Mr. Vixen)
thoroughly enjoyed the baby corn cobs, carrots and brocolli. The package includes the everything needed for a meal for two, including steamed rice which was perfect and had a very adequate amount for both of us.
As a full time mother (and formerly full time employed outside the home also) I have eaten my fair share of easy to prepare and/or frozen entrées and this was by far the freshest tasting I’ve ever had.
If you’d like to try Wenchai Ferry entrées there is a $1.50 off coupon available at http://www.wanchaiferry.com/. For meal tips to enhance your Wanchai Ferry frozen entrée check out their website at: http://www.wanchaiferry.com/MealTips.aspx.
On to the fun stuff:
On lucky reader can win a Wanchai Ferry “Perfect Night In” prize pack that includes one VIP coupon valid for a free package of any of the Wanchai Ferry frozen entrees, in addition to a set of great Asian-inspired rice bowls, chopsticks, bamboo placemats, flavored fortune cookies, and a $25 Target gift card ! (DISCLAIMER: The big, rectangular plates in the picture are mine; as are the homemade cream cheese wontons on the left of the plate. These items are not part of the giveaway, although if you ask I will gladly share my wonton recipe).
To enter, leave a comment here. Contest open until Sunday, March 7 midnight PST. Winner will be selected by random drawing.
(blessing, good fortune, good luck)
The coupon, prize pack, information and additional prize pack to give away were all given to me from Wanchai Ferry through MyBlogSpark.
