On the very first Saturday we spent at the new homestead a truck lost control, hit a boulder, flipped over and crashed into our front yard (bye-bye mailboxes). The truck was completely totaled. It was amazing the couple survived. They were going too fast and were under the influence. They were scared and confused. We stayed with them until the paramedics loaded them up and whisked them away. The young man who was driving came back last week to thank us. He was very touched by the way we were there for them when they needed it. I would still act the same way if it happened again, I didn’t expect him to come back. But I must admit, it really made my day that he would take the time to personally come and make such a sincere thank you. I just keep paying it forward.
